34 Suspected Awawa Boys, Others Arrested In Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 34 suspects known as Awawa boys and other suspects terrorising various parts of the state.
Seven bags of weeds, suspected to be Indian hemp were also recovered from the suspects.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana in a statement on Monday disclosed that the suspects were arrested when Operatives of Operation Crush raided some criminal hideouts within Agege area of the state after credible intelligence.
Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over to Taskforce, Oshodi for prosecution.
Similarly, a group of hoodlums suspected to be armed robbers were arrested in Lekki.
Items recovered from the suspects include one locally made pistol with ten (10) unexpended cartridges were recovered.

On suspected cultists captured, the police spokesman added that one Alayakin Azeez Olawale identified as the leader of a group of Aiye confraternity members was arrested in Bariga.
Meanwhile, 38 suspected cultists were arrested by the police in Ikorodu when youths from the area engaged in a supremacy fight.
While some passersby were attacked, the police accused the suspects of damaging some vehicles during the fracas.
Following the deployment of combined teams of policemen, normalcy has returned in the area to avoid a break down of law and order.
Elkanah reiterated the determination of the police to charge the suspects to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
