49ers sign CB Dontae Johnson to 1-year deal
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have signed cornerback Dontae Johnson to a one-year deal and waived linebacker Pita Taumoepenu.
The 49ers also released Anthony Davis from the retired list on Tuesday. The 2010 first-round pick last played in the NFL in 2016 when he suited up for one game.
Johnson spent four years with San Francisco after being drafted in the fourth round in 2014. He played in 63 games with 149 tackles, 21 passes defensed and two interceptions returned for touchdowns. He spent time with Seattle, Buffalo and Arizona last year but didn’t play. He signed with Kansas City in February but was released last month.
Taumoepenu was a sixth-round pick in 2017 and has played two games in his career.
