Early returns good on Brewers’ pitching additions

Milwaukee general manager David Stearns bolstered the Brewers’ pitching staff with four additions at the trade deadline. The early returns are positive. Jordan Lyles, acquired from Pittsburgh, has made two starts and allowed two earned runs and nine baserunners in 10 innings, earning the win in both of those contests. Drew Pomeranz, one of two pitchers obtained from San Francisco, has tossed two scoreless innings, allowing two hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Jake Faria, dealt to Tampa Bay for Jesus Aguilar, was recently recalled and in his first appearance threw two shutout innings (two hits, no walks, one whiff). The other pitcher the Brewers got from the Giants, Ray Black, is at Triple-A San Antonio and has also tossed two scoreless innings while hitting 101 mph on the radar gun.
