Dhooghe’s OT goal lifts Badgers over Wolverines
The Wisconsin men’s hockey team downed the Michigan Wolverines 5-4 in a thrilling overtime victory on Friday night.
Sean Dhooghe scored the game-winning goal with 26.2 seconds left in overtime to seal the victory.
Tied 1-1 after one period of play, Wisconsin took a 4-3 lead heading into the third after Matthew Freytag, Roman Ahcan and Dhooghe each tallied goals in the second.
The Wolverines forced overtime after scoring early in the third to tie the game, but Dhooghe secured the win with his 12th goal of the season.
Daniel Lebedeff made 26 saves in the victory.
