With tournament hopes in jeopardy, Coffey delivers for Gophers
It was an up-and-down season for Whalen’s Gophers, but the team closed out the regular season on a 7-2 run over the final nine games. Minnesota finished the season with a 20-9 overall record (9-9 Big Ten), good for the 14th 20-win season in program history. Now, the Gophers head into the Big Ten tournament with a solid resume but are still considered to be on the bubble for the NCAA tourney. The Gophers will need a strong performance in the conference tournament to crack the 64-team field. It all starts Thursday with a matchup against Indiana, a team they beat 65-61 on the road Feb. 6.
