Vikings claim Sendejo off waivers from Eagles

Andrew Sendejo is returning to the Minnesota Vikings after nine games with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Vikings claimed the veteran safety off waivers Wednesday, cutting rookie safety Marcus Epps to free up a spot on the 53-man roster. Sendejo, 32, spent eight seasons with Minnesota before signing a one-year contract with Philadelphia in March.

He appeared in just five games last year before suffering a season-ending groin injury, and was replaced by current starter Anthony Harris.

Sendejo started once for the Eagles, and has registered 26 tackles (21 solo), two tackles for loss, one interception and one sack this season. He came up with his lone pick in Week 6, capitalizing after former teammate Stefon Diggs bobbled a pass from Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Harris has started all nine games this season opposite Harrison Smith.

Epps, a former sixth-round pick, made eight appearances for the Vikings, primarily on special teams. He appeared in four games on defense, playing 13 snaps.
