Senate PDP Caucus Rejects Outcome Of Kogi, Bayelsa Elections

Lawmakers representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Senate on Wednesday rejected the outcome of Kogi and Bayelsa State elections.

The Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who spoke on behalf of the group said the Senators are worried about the trend that appears to be occurring in polls, including outright killings, intimidation, and connivance of security agencies.

He also expressed worry at the election figures released adding that he wonders why the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) will accept such.

“All that we have seen in all the elections is a steady decline in the efficacy of our elections. I do not know how INEC can accept the figures that came out of those elections,” he said.

Abaribe added that the party is further pained by the killing of the PDP woman leader in Kogi State, Mrs Acheju Abuh who was burnt alive in her home.

According to him, this sends the signal that opposition members are not safe in the country.
