One Killed In Jigawa As Farmers/Herders Clash
One person is reported to have been killed while several were injured after a clash between farmers and herdsmen in the Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa state, northwest Nigeria.
This was confirmed to channels television by the police public relations officer in the state, SP Abdu Jinjiri.
According to him, one Abubakar Dauda, aged 38yrs of Yalari quarters in Guri town sustained machete cuts on his back and head but died after the police rushed him to Hadejia general hospital.
As a result one Usman Lamido Isah aged 30yrs of Bodala Fulani settlement was arrested.
However, the chairman of Miyetti Allah cattle breeders association who also confirmed the arrest says the deceased used his motorcycle to knockdown a calf as a result the owners who were Fulani retaliate which leads to his death.
A member of the family of the deceased who pleaded for anonymity says Abubakar Dauda was on his way back from his farm when some Fulani attacked him leading to his death.
Meanwhile, reinforcement was dispatched by the police to prevent possible breach of peace in the area, as the suspects’ and deceased’s villages are close to each other.
