Sagl scores 23 to lift Marist over Manhattan 75-73 in OT

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — Tyler Sagl had a season-high 23 points, including 10 points in overtime, as Marist narrowly beat Manhattan 75-73 on Wednesday night.

The Red Foxes (4-13, 3-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) took an early lead in the extra period and Sagl drained a pair of 3-pointers and four free throws to keep Marist on top for the win.

Marist trailed by 10 at halftime but rallied in the second half to lead 62-59 with 14 seconds left in regulation. Manhattan’s Tyler Reynolds replied with a 3-pointer to tie it up 62-all with 10 seconds remaining and force overtime.

Braden Bell had 17 points for Marist. Zion Tordoff added 10 points and seven rebounds. Michael Cubbage had nine points, nine rebounds and six assists.

The Red Foxes forced a season-high 21 turnovers.

Reynolds tied a career high with 23 points for the Jaspers (8-8, 4-3). Warren Williams added 14 points. Tykei Greene had 11 points.

Samir Stewart, who was second on the Jaspers in scoring coming into the matchup with 10 points per game, shot only 20 percent for the game (1 of 5).

Marist matches up against Siena on the road on Friday. Manhattan plays Rider at home on Sunday.
