Knight powers William & Mary past Towson 61-51

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Nathan Knight had 14 points and 10 rebounds for his nation-leading 22nd double-double of the season to lead William & Mary to a 61-51 victory over Towson on Thursday night.

Knight sank 4 of 11 shots from the floor and all five of his free throws for the Tribe (19-10, 11-5 Colonial Athletic Conference). The senior moved one double-double ahead of Notre Dame’s John Mooney for the top spot in the country. Luke Loewe had 15 points, while Alex Van Vliet grabbed 12 rebounds to go with nine points.

Brian Fobbs had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Tigers (16-12, 9-6).

William & Mary shot 39% from the floor and 32% from 3-point range (8 of 25). Towson shot just 27% overall (17 of 62) and 35% from distance (6 of 17). The Tigers won the rebound battle 42-39. Both teams had just eight turnovers.

The Tribe evened the season series against the Tigers with the win. Towson defeated William & Mary 70-58 on Jan. 25.
