No. 12 DePaul women wrap up outright Big East title

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sonya Morris scored 22 points, Chante Stonewall had 20 and No. 12 DePaul beat Georgetown 87-69 on Friday night with the Blue Demons wrapping up the outright Big East regular-season title.

DePaul (25-3, 15-1) needed either a win against the Hoyas (5-21, 2-13) or a Marquette loss to Villanova to claim the outright crown and got both with the Golden Eagles (11-5) losing to the Wildcats 61-47 Friday.

Morris made seven 3-pointers and had nine rebounds. Deja Church and Maya Stovall added 11 points each while Kelly Campbell had 10 rebounds and nine assists to go with six points.

DePaul led 22-11 after the first quarter and broke the game open in a 32-11 second period with Morris scoring 15 points. The Blue Demons led by 41 midway through the third quarter and the starters sat shortly thereafter.

DePaul had 20 offensive rebounds for 18 second-chance points and scored 29 points off 20 Georgetown turnovers.

Taylor Barnes led Georgetown with 13 points.
