Big Ten sets Wisconsin’s football schedule; Rutgers added as 10th opponent

The Big Ten Conference on Wednesday morning announced its schedule for the 2020 season.

It had been already declared there would be no non-conference games this season, with each team playing 10 other Big Ten teams.

More Badgers coverage

The Wisconsin Badgers’ new schedule includes each of the previous nine conference games scheduled with a home game against Rutgers at the end of the season added.

Each Big Ten also has two off weeks scheduled plus every team has no game scheduled Nov. 28, to potentially help with any missed games. Wisconsin retained being off Oct. 17 and also now have no game on Nov. 7, a date previously reserved for a contest at Northwestern.

The Badgers and Wildcats will now meet Sept. 12.

That’s not the only change to Wisconsin’s schedule, which now has the Badgers traveling to Nebraska instead of hosting the Cornhuskers.

The only game from the Badgers’ original schedule which remained on the same date is the home opener vs. Indiana on Friday, Sept. 4.

Every other game on Wisconsin’s schedule was shuffled.

Here is Wisconsin’s new 2020 schedule (previous date in parentheses):

Sept. 4: vs. Indiana
Sept. 12: at Northwestern (Nov. 7)
Sept. 19: at Nebraska (Nov. 21)
Sept. 26: vs. Minnesota (Oct. 10)
Oct. 3: at Maryland (Oct. 24)
Oct. 10: at Purdue (Nov. 14)
Oct. 24: Illinois (Oct. 31)
Oct. 31: at Michigan (Sept. 26)
Nov. 14: at Iowa (Nov. 28)
Nov. 21: vs. Rutgers

The Big Ten championship game is still scheduled for Dec. 5 but it has the potential to be moved to Dec. 12 or Dec. 19.
