Big Ten sets Minnesota’s football schedule; Indiana added as 10th opponent
The Big Ten Conference on Wednesday morning announced its schedule for the 2020 season.
It had been already declared there would be no non-conference games this season, with each team playing 10 other Big Ten teams.
The Minnesota Gophers’ new schedule includes each of the previous nine conference games scheduled with a home game against Indiana added.
More Gophers coverage
Each Big Ten also has two off weeks scheduled plus every team has no game scheduled Nov. 28, to potentially help with any missed games. Minnesota will be off Oct. 17 and Nov. 7, dates previously reserved for contests against Michigan and Purdue. The Gophers previously had been scheduled to be off Nov. 14.
The Gophers will now host the Wolverines on Sept. 12 and the Wildcats on Nov. 14.
The only game from the Gophers’ original schedule which remained on the same weekend is the home game against Iowa, which had been originally planned for Friday, Sept. 18 but now will be played Saturday, Sept. 19.
Every other game on Minnesota’s schedule was shuffled.
Here is Minnesota’s new 2020 schedule (previous date in parentheses):
Sept. 5: at Michigan State (Oct. 31)
Sept. 12: vs. Michigan (Oct. 12)
Sept. 19: vs. Iowa (Sept. 18)
Sept. 26: at Wisconsin (Oct. 10)
Oct. 3: at Nebraska (Oct. 24)
Oct. 10: Indiana
Oct. 24: Purdue (Nov. 7)
Oct. 31: at Illinois (Oct. 24)
Nov. 14: Northwestern (Nov. 21)
Nov. 21: at Maryland (Oct. 3)
The Big Ten championship game is still scheduled for Dec. 5 but it has the potential to be moved to Dec. 12 or Dec. 19.
