Brewers’ Vogelbach has brought his bat to Milwaukee

We love Big Boy dingers. Vogelbach provides them. During the Brewers’ 18-3 rout of St. Louis on Tuesday, Vogelbach went 3-for-4 with four RBI, three runs scored and a walk. Since signing with the Brewers, Vogelbach has started eight games — all at designated hitter — and is batting .462 (12-for-26) with two doubles, one homer and five RBI. He’s also drawn four walks in 30 plate appearances.

Ryan Braun, Brewers outfielder (⬆️ UP)

Wake me up when September ends? Brauny could not disagree more with those Green Day lyrics. Through his first 19 contests this summer, Braun was batting .182/.239/.348 with two homers and five doubles. But ever since the calendar has flipped to a new month, #SeptemberBraun has emerged yet again. In nine September games, Braun has collected at least one hit in seven of them and is batting .333/.367/.778 with one double, one triple, three homers and 10 RBI.

Aaron Rodgers, Packers quarterback (⬆️ UP)

Jordan who? Packers fans had to Love the performance by Rodgers on Sunday, as he sliced through Minnesota’s defense with ease in Green Bay’s season-opening 43-34 victory. Rodgers, who threw for multiple scores in just two of his final eight contests last season, exploded for 364 passing yards and four touchdowns. The Packers scored 40+ points against Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer’s defense for the first time since 2014.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers receiver (➡️ EVEN)

Valdes-Scantling hauled in four of his six targets Sunday afternoon. The two passes he missed were ugly drops. The first drop was on a third-and-6 from the Packers’ 41-yard line that would’ve extended the drive, and the second one came on his next target – a perfect pass from Rodgers that would’ve set the Packers up deep into Vikings territory. However, Valdes-Scantling rebounded to finish the game with four catches for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Christian Yelich, Brewers outfielder (➡️ EVEN)

Yelich had a rough doubleheader Tuesday. He went a combined 1-for-8 with six strikeouts as the Brewers split a pair of extra-inning bouts with St. Louis. That brought Yelich’s total of three-strikeout games to nine in 2020. Yelich fanned 3+ times just six times last year and five times in his 2018 MVP campaign. The good news, however, is Yelich went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, one walk and one RBI in Milwaukee’s 18-3 win Tuesday.
