Brewers’ Williams named NL Reliever of the Month

The Milwaukee Brewers right-hander was named the National League Reliever of the Month for his efforts in September, MLB announced Monday.
In the month of September, Williams appeared in nine games (13 IP) and allowed no runs while logging 24 strikeouts, a 0.54 WHIP and .908 batting average against.
Williams is also a candidate to win the NL Reliever of the Year and NL Rookie of the Year honors. Craig Kimbrel was the last reliever to win Rookie of the Year in 2011.
On the season, the 26-year-old fanned 53 batters in 27 innings. He registered a 4-1 record, 0.33 ERA, 0.86 FIP and 17.9 K/9, giving reliever Josh Hader a running mate in Milwaukee’s bullpen.
Williams and the Brewers open postseason play Wednesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a best-of-three series.
