Vikings’ Cook named NFC Offensive Player of the Week once again

It’s time to include Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook in the MVP conversation.

For the second consecutive week, Cook was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance Sunday against Detroit.

Cook gashed the Lions for 206 rushing yards, 46 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Over the last two weeks, the 25-year-old running back has logged 478 total yards and six touchdowns — four on the ground and two through the air.

Cook has now won four Player of the Week nods in his career: Week 15 in 2018, Week 10 in 2019, Week 8 in 2020 and now Week 9 in 2020. He’s the first running back to win back-to-back weekly honors since Todd Gurley in 2017.

Three other Vikings players have been named Player of the Week twice in a row, and all came in 1998 — Randall Cunningham (Weeks 4-5), Mitch Berger (Weeks 11-12) and Randy Moss (Weeks 12-13).

Winners of two consecutive games, Minnesota (3-5) returns to the field Monday night to battle the Chicago Bears.
