Gophers center Daniel Oturu selected No. 33 overall in 2020 NBA draft
Former Minnesota Gophers center Daniel Oturu has punched his ticket to the NBA.

Oturu was selected with the third pick of the second round (No. 33 overall) in the 2020 NBA draft.
The Minnesota Timberwolves originally had the 33rd pick, but according to multiple reports they traded it to New York. After the selection was made, the Knicks reportedly traded Oturu to the Los Angeles Clippers, meaning the Gophers star will be reunited with Amir Coffey.
Oturu, who attended Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul, Minn., played two seasons for the Gophers from 2018-20. As a sophomore last season, Oturu averaged 20.1 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. He posted a double-double in 18 of 31 games. Oturu was named to the All-Big Ten first team.
The 21-year-old is the first Gophers men’s basketball player to be drafted since Kris Humphries was selected 14th by Utah in 2004.
