Gophers top Ohio State 4-1, Faber and Koster score first collegiate goals
The Minnesota Golden Gophers moved to 3-0 with a 4-1 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday night at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
Minnesota took an early lead in the first period when Brock Faber launched a masterful strike into the net with 8:38 to go in the period. That was Faber’s first collegiate goal.

Sammy Walker capitalized on a rebound in front of the net later in the period, giving the Gophers a 2-0 lead with 1:06 left until the first intermission.
Ohio State scored in the second period, but after getting a power play, Minnesota went up 3-1 with 4:06 left in the second thanks to the first career goal from Mike Koster.

Ben Meyers made an empty-net goal in the final minute of the game to put the Gophers up 4-1.
Minnesota will be back in action on its home ice for the finale of its two-game series with the Buckeyes. Game two is on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
