Wild sign goalie Andrew Hammond to one-year, two-way deal

The Minnesota Wild announced the signing of goalie Andrew Hammond after it announced that goaltender Alex Stalock is out indefinitely with an upper body injury.

Hammond, 32, is signed to a one-year, two-way contract worth $700,000 ($200,000).

He played most of the 2019-20 season with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League, where he finished with a 16-12-3 record with a 2.53 goals-against average, a .908 save percentage and four shutouts in 33 games. The 6-foot-2, 223-pound Surrey, B.C. native went 19-12-2 in 33 games with the Iowa Wild in 2018-19.

In Hammond’s overall NHL career, he has gone 27-15-6 with a 2.31 GAA, a .923 SV% and four shutouts in 56 career NHL games, 49 of those being starts.

The Bowling Green State University product began his NHL career as an undrafted rookie in 2013 with the Ottawa Senators. He played with Ottawa’s organization until 2017 and spent the 2017-18 campaign with the Colorado Avalanche.
