Badgers beat Arizona State 5-2 to clinch sweep

The Wisconsin Badgers defeated Arizona State 5-2 on Sunday night to complete a weekend series sweep.

Wisconsin entered the third period clinging to a 3-1 lead. The Sun Devils made it a one-goal game at the 7:23 mark of the third period, but the Badgers prevailed with a pair of empty-net goals to secure the 5-2 victory.

Linus Weissbach and Cole Caufield tallied power-play goals in the opening period. Wisconsin’s Mike Vorlicky added one in the second, and Jason Dhooghe and Brock Caufield got on the scoring sheet with the empty-netters.

The Badgers outshot Arizona State 34-25. Wisconsin goaltender Cameron Rowe tallied 23 saves in the winning effort.

Wisconsin (8-6, 6-4) returns to the ice for a two-game road series against Penn State on Thursday and Friday.
