Wolves guard Russell to undergo knee surgery, will miss 4-6 weeks

D’Angelo Russell will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair a loose body from the left knee, the Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday.

Russell is expected to miss four to six weeks.

The 24-year-old has played 20 contests for Minnesota in 2020-21 and is averaging 19.3 points, 5.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game. He missed the Timberwolves’ last three games with leg soreness.

If Russell is out for six weeks, that would slot his return somewhere around March 30.

Additionally, the Wolves announced guard Jarrett Culver has been upgraded to on-court activitiy Tuesday. Culver hasn’t played since suffering an ankle injury during the Timberwolves’ loss to Golden State on Jan. 25.

The game between Minnesota and the Los Angeles Lakers is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. Tuesday. It will be aired on FOX Sports North, with “Wolves Live” beginning at 6:30 p.m.
