Royals’ offense explodes in 10-2 win over Cubs for 10th win of spring

Jorge Soler hit his third home run of the spring, the Royals‘ pitching turned in another solid performance and Kansas City beat the Chicago Cubs 10-2 on Saturday.

There was no shortage of scoring against the Cubs at Surprise Stadium as the Royals won their tenth game of the spring.

The Cubs scored their only runs of the day off of Royals’ starter Daniel Lynch in the second inning when Ildemaro Vargas hit a two-run home run. Lynch gave up just two hits and earned five strikeouts in three innings of work.

Over the final four innings of the game the Royals’ pitching held the Cubs to just three hits.

Jorge Soler got the Royals’ offense going with a solo homer in the second inning. He then added an RBI double to his day in the third inning.

Nick Pratto brought a burst of power to the Royals’ offense, homering twice and driving in a total of three runs.

An RBI double by Andrew Benintendi in the fourth, an RBI double by Anderson Miller in the sixth and a plethora of Cubs’ errors rounded out the scoring for the Royals.

The Royals take the field next against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
