Twins manage just three hits in 1-0 loss to Pirates

The Minnesota Twins bats were silenced Tuesday afternoon in a 1-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at LECOM Park.

Minnesota managed to notch just three hits off the bats of Luis Arraez, Willians Astudillo and Andrew Romine, the latter a triple in the sixth inning for the Twins’ only extra-base knock of the day.

Catcher Mitch Garver and first baseman Miguel Sano combined to go 0 for 6 with four strikeouts.

Right-hander Griffin Jax, a third-round pick by the Twins in 2016, held the Pirates scoreless over three innings of work. He didn’t record any strikeouts and walked one batter.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Pittsburgh infielder Adam Frazier homered to score the game’s only run.

The Twins (9-11) will battle the Tampa Bay Rays at 12 p.m. Wednesday. That game will be televised on FOX Sports North.
