Forearm injury will land Bader on IL to open season

Center fielder Harrison Bader, who has struggled offensively all spring, will not be on the Opening Day roster as he rests a right forearm injury.

Bader will be placed on the injured list. He is expected to be out at least four weeks, manager Mike Shildt told reporters Wednesday morning.

Bader finished his Grapefruit League season with three hits in 28 at-bats for a .107 average. He had two singles, a double, two walks and one RBI.

The expected outfield of Gold Glover Tyler O’Neill in left, Bader in center and Dylan Carlson could shift to Carlson primarily in center and some combination of a group that includes Lane Thomas, Justin Williams, Austin Dean and John Nogowski in right.
