The Brewers outscored the Royals 5-2 through five frames. Wisconsin native Jordan Zimmermann, who re-signed with the club on a minor-league contract earlier in the day, gave up a trio of runs in the bottom-half of the sixth inning.

In the ninth, Kansas City scored the tying run off a wild pitch by Miguel Sanchez.

The draw spoiled an otherwise strong showing by the Brewers, which featured opening day starter Brandon Woodruff on the mound making his final start this spring. He struck out seven and allowed just four hits in 4 1/3 innings pitched.

Lorenzo Cain finished 2-for-3 at the plate, and homered in the sixth.

Milwaukee will gear up to face Cincinnati at 2:10 p.m. on Sunday.
