Job Description
- The University of Calabar (Unical) is seeking for a Strategic Fundraising Manager to lead the development and implementation of our fundraising strategic and develop sustainable and strategic partnerships in order to increase and diversify our funding streams.
- The Strategic Fundraising Manager, will be required to create a relationship-base that adds more value to our core initiatives, while working with a small, dynamic, high capacity, and functionally diverse team.

Responsibilities
- Develop an efficacious and productive fundraising strategy.
- Source for, negotiate and close partnership deals that will bolster the financial, and diverse capacity building capabilities of the University.
- Identify, create and gestate new revenue streams to diversify the University’s income.
- Develop long-term and sustainable relationships with partners.
- Act as liaison between partners and cross-functional internal teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of the benefits. of partnership agreements.
- Effectively communicate the University’s brand and promote initiatives, events and network achievements to maximize our partnership opportunities.
- Manage our Alumni community network. Ensure all partnerships and commitments fit within organizational, educational, legal and governmental regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Project Management or related fields.
- Proven experience in sourcing securing and strategically growing organizational partners.
- Ability to lead from the front in cultivating and managing donor relationships and serve as an active ambassador for Unical in the fundraising world. Proven experience in developing and leading multi-faceted campaigns to identify and/or engage new donors.
- Commercially driven thinker who thrives in context of ambiguity and cuts through to focus on long term effective outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and influence a network of senior stakeholders, and build productive Working relationships Strong planning and prioritization skills to manage a varied and pressurized workload while focusing on the “big picture”.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills including but not limited to creating partnership pitch decks, one-pagers, community emails and partnership reports.
- Evidence of having successfully cultivated new relationships and partnerships that have resulted in tangible outcomes, including a track record of securing multiple figure donations.
- Experience of developing and implementing new commercial offerings; especially knowledge of sponsorship and/or developing new funding streams for a not-for-profit organisation.
- Proven track record of delivering creative solutions to overcome obstacles and come up with mutually beneficial solutions.
- Ability to work at a high level and report directly to the Vice Chancellor and Governing Council.
- Previous working experience in working with an educational nstitution is a plus.
