Rennes beats Lyon to reach French Cup final
PARIS (AP) — Algeria international Ramy Bensebaini scored a late winner to send Rennes into the French Cup final with a 3-2 win at Lyon on Tuesday.
The Brittany side, which won the trophy in 1971 and lost the final to local rivals Guingamp in 2009 and 2014, twice relinquished its lead against the seven-time champions before the defender sent a low shot from the edge of the box into the back of the net in the 81st minute.
Rennes, which lost 1-0 to Lyon in the French league just four days ago, will be up against either Paris Saint-Germain or Nantes in the April 27 final.
M’Baye Niang gave Rennes a 1-0 first-half lead only for Bertrand Traore to level in the 47th minute. The visitors again failed to hold on to their lead after Benjamin Andre made it 2-1 as Moussa Dembele leveled from the penalty spot in the 75th following a handball in the box.
