Project HOPE Nigeria (otherwise referred to People-to-People Health Foundation Nigeria) is a registered non-profit, non-governmental organization working in Nigeria in areas of HIV & AIDS, Tuberculosis, OVC, RMNCAH & Malaria intervention services.

Job Summary

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Technical Officer, the Technical Officers will support state governments at LGA and Community levels to improve access to RMNCH services by providing technical expertise on G-ANC model implementation, malaria IPTp, and other RMNCH priorities.
  • They will also lead systems strengthening activities and will ensure that all project activities support the capacity building of local government stakeholders and systems.
  • They will provide technical oversight to the LGA MCH coordinators in their catchment LGAs to ensure the effective implementation of the G-ANC program.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and programmatic support to implement high quality reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health activities in collaboration with appropriate Niger state stakeholders.
  • Support the planning, design, implementation, monitoring and documentation of best practices in delivering high impact RMNCH, G-ANC and Malaria interventions in Niger state
  • Support the Niger MOH/SPHCDA and LGAs to plan, implement, harmonize, and scale up RMNCH, G-ANC and malaria interventions across the state.
  • Support State Senior Technical officer and Program manager in identifying and addressing barriers to implementing RMNCH and G-ANC interventions in Niger State.
  • Support the implementation of facility and community-based activities including strengthening referrals and linkages by mentoring community-based organizations and support groups to strengthen linkages to services.
  • Support demand generation for RMNCH service at Project HOPE supported facilities
  • Assist the State Senior Technical Officer in providing support to sites in the state, including interacting with site focal points, other Implementing Agencies and local research groups on needs
  • Supporting the conduct of routine monitoring visits to project sites, including the implementation of Quality Improvement/Assurance strategies and provide supportive supervision, post training follow-up and on the job training mentorship of trained health workers and community health influencers.
  • Collaborate with SMOH/SPHCDA to build capacity and provide mentorship to state program officers, frontline health workers, on RMNCH, G-ANC and Malaria
  • Contribute to the preparation of timely and quality monthly, quarterly/annual progress reports
  • Support the development annual work plans, provide inputs to budgets, presentations, research protocol, success stories, terms of reference and other programme deliverables
  • Remain informed on current programs in the field of RMNCH and related developments by reviewing current literature and staying alert to any implication of such experience and research to the project implementation.
  • Support Supervisors state stakeholders to design BCC IEC materials and job aids for health workers
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree or Higher in Public Health, Social Sciences, or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years working on RMNCH projects or related programs.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field and HQ, counterparts, senior government and rebel leaders and other related regional players.

  • Lifting moderately heavy objects from the ground, carrying a backpack for extended periods of time, and walking or hiking in remote locations may be necessary to perform these functions.
