Baker Mayfield traded: Browns deal QB to Panthers
Baker Mayfield has a new home.
According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Cleveland Browns have traded their quarterback to the Carolina Panthers. The trade is pending a physical.
The Browns will reportedly receive a conditional fifth-round pick in return.
Rapoport reported that the “parties split the financials” to make the deal happen. Mayfield, 27, is set to make nearly $19 million next season in the final year of his four-year, $32.6 million contract.

The Cleveland Browns are trading Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 2024 conditional fifth-round pick. The Browns will reportedly pay $10.5 million of Baker’s salary while the Panthers will pay an estimated $5 million. Colin Cowherd reacts to the news.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft, Mayfield has completed 61.6% of his passes for 14,125 yards, 92 touchdowns and 56 interceptions across four NFL seasons.
Adding to the intrigue around this trade, the Panthers happen to host the Browns in Week 1 of the upcoming season.
