McDavid leaves game with left leg injury in Oilers’ finale

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid left Saturday’s season finale against Calgary after injuring his left leg, and the team says X-rays came back negative.

After a 3-1 win over Flames, the Oilers tweeted that X-rays came back negative and that the 22-year-old McDavid would travel home with the team and have an MRI in Edmonton.

McDavid was helped off the ice by teammate Zack Kassian and a trainer after crashing into the Flames’ net. He fell to the ice after being challenged by Flames defenseman Mark Giordano and then slid hard into the net.

McDavid held his left leg for several minutes before being helped off.

McDavid is second in the league in scoring this season with 116 points.

The Oilers were eliminated from playoff contention earlier this week.
