Job Title: Business Development Manager

Locations: Port Harcourt – Rivers and Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • As Manager Business Development you will be responsible for managing a wide portfolio of accounts where you will be responsible for forming strong relationships with key decision makers.
  • Your objective will be to become a trusted advisor and support each account by developing solutions which meet their current and future needs.
  • You will be responsible for revenue growth. You will proactively seek out new business opportunities by generating your own appointments and following up leads from our internal marketing team, seminars and events.
  • You will seek to establish a network of contacts and referrals which you will personally prospect for new business opportunities.
  • This role will suit a proactive and ambitious sales professional with a proven track record of working in the Public Sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective account management to selected Accounts, maximising revenues, and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Own and achieve/exceed annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts.
  • Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives.
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations.
  • Understand category-specific landscapes and trends.
  • Reporting on activities that shift strategic direction of account.
  • Build strong relationships within each Account by gaining trust at different levels, qualifying the key decision makers and influencers, and proposing the right solution from the organization’s portfolio.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the organization’s solutions & strategies.
  • Ensure best practice in your approach to account planning and fitting solutions to customer requirements.
  • Follow up leads which you have proactively identified, or which have been provided through internal teams to develop and win new business.
  • Participate in every organizationalseminars / events & pro-actively network at these events to grow pipeline and business.
  • Take personal responsibility for building & maintaining industry and competitor knowledge.
  • Support other internal teams to achieve growth & retention targets.
  • Capture feedback from the customer on areas for service improvement & development & provide feedback in structured way to the relevant internal departments.

Requirements

  • B.Sc / HND in Sales, Business, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, or a relevant-related degree.
  • MBA, Master’s Degree or professional qualification in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
  • 6 – 10 years sales management experience.
  • Must reside in Port Harcourt.

Skills & Experience:

  • Applicants must have a strong sales background and should be able to demonstrate previous success and achievements.
  • Strong track record in consultative & solution selling.
  • High calibre individual who brings gravitas and the ability to diagnose/analyse complex commercial and strategic situations whilst establishing a trusted relationship at a senior level.
  • Able to demonstrate previous experience of growing and retaining public sector accounts.
  • Sound business acumen & commercial / financial awareness.
  • Proactive user and believer in CRM to assist in delivering results.
  • Experience of developing relationships internally and externally.
  • Customer centric led sales approach.
  • Prepared to help develop internal processes to meet customer needs using solid solution selling skills.
  • Self-motivated & ability to motivate others.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with experience of managing own time and prioritising own workload.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Proven leadership & ability to drive sales teams.
  • Must have strong communication & relationship management skills.
  • Market research & analytical skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize responsibilities & must be highly spontaneous.
  • Must demonstrate high level of initiative, creativity & ability to think outside the box.
  • Strong understanding of customer & market dynamics and requirements.
