College football odds Week 1: How to bet North Carolina State-ECU
No. 13 North Carolina State makes the rare trip to a G5 school to open its season, remaining in the state to take on East Carolina.
The Wolfpack are coming off one of their best seasons since the turn of the century, going 9-3 last year to finish with the No. 20 overall ranking.
Meanwhile, the Pirates went 7-5 in 2021, their best season since 2014.
Here’s everything you need to know about Saturday’s NC State-ECU game, from the point spread, moneyline and total over/under (odds via FOX Bet).
No. 13 NC State @ ECU (12 p.m. ET Saturday, ESPN)
Point spread: NC State -11.0 (NC State favored to win by more than 11 points, otherwise ECU covers)
Moneyline: NC State -500 favorite to win ($10 bet to win $12 total); ECU +333 underdog to win (bet $10 to win $43.30 total).
Total scoring over/under: 54.5 points scored by both teams combined
NC State coach Dave Doeren’s teams often cover when they’re double-digit favorites. He’s 20-15 against the spread (ATS) when favored by at least 10 points over his first nine seasons at NC State. He’s also gone 33-2 straight-up (SU) when favored by double-digits.
NC State has gone 5-1 ATS and SU in the six games it has played against teams from the American Athletic Conference under Doeren.
ECU has fared well ATS as double-digit underdogs since Mike Houston became its head coach in 2019, going 10-3. But the Pirates are just 2-11 SU in such games.
The over hit in seven of the 12 games for both teams last season.
