SHANGHAI (AP) — Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari had the quickest time in the first of two practice sessions on Friday for the Chinese Grand Prix.
Vettel clocked 1 minute 33.911 seconds and was followed closely by Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes. The next two spots went to Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Max Verstappen of Red Bull.
Sunday’s race is billed as the 1,000th in the sports history, which began in 1950 at the Silverstone circuit in the south of England.
Mercedes drivers Valtteri Bottas and Hamilton have each won one of the first two races. Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull dominate and are expected to do the same on Sunday.
