LeMahieu, Urhsela leave Yankees game with injuries
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The New York Yankees lost two more players to injuries when second baseman DJ LeMahieu and third baseman Gio Urshela left Sunday’s game against San Francisco.
LeMahieu was removed in the bottom of the third because of right knee inflammation, and the Yankees said X-rays were negative. LeMahieu fouled a pitch off the knee on Friday night and had the knee wrapped with ice after Friday’s and Saturday’s games. In his first season with the Yankees, LaMahieu is hitting .310 with 15 RBIs.
Urshela left after he was hit on his left hand by an 88.5 mph cutter from Nick Vincent in the fifth inning. He was replaced by pinch-runner Cameron Maybin, and Urshela was sent for X-rays.
Urshela has two hits Sunday and is batting .351 with six RBIs in 57 at-bats.
New York entered the game with a major league-high 13 players on the injured list.
