Scoop! Blues sign Craig Berube to three-year deal as head coach
ST. LOUIS – In a move surprising absolutely no one, the St. Louis Blues officially removed the interim tag from Craig Berube’s title Tuesday.
The Blues announced Tuesday that Berube, who led the Blues to their first Stanley Cup championship after replacing head coach Mike Yeo on an interim basis, has signed a three-year contract with the club. A press conference with Berube and general manager Doug Armstrong will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The Blues posted a 38-19-6 regular-season record and a third-place finish in the Central Division under Berube, then proceeded to defeat Winnipeg, Dallas, San Jose and Boston in the playoffs. The Blues became just the seventh team since 1967-68 to earn a postseason berth after being last in the NHL standings at any point after New Year’s Day, a run that included a franchise-record 11-game win streak from Jan. 23 to Feb. 19. Berube was a finalist for the 2019 Jack Adams Award.
Berube originally joined the Blues as an associate coach on June 15, 2017.
