On June 2, Davies dazzled Pittsburgh and allowed just two runs over eight innings of work, lowering his season ERA to 2.20. But since then, Davies has been shaky at best. He hasn’t pitched more than five innings in his last four outings and has yielded 15 earned runs in those starts (16 2/3 innings). Once the saving grace of Milwaukee’s struggling starting staff, Davies overall numbers still look ok — 7-2 record, 3.34 ERA and 1.39 WHIP — but the Brewers need more from the right-hander who looked like he figured it out early this season.
