NEW FAVORITE: Woods instantly became the betting favorite for the next major, the PGA Championship at Bethpage next month. Las Vegas also established him as an 8-1 favorite in next year’s Masters, for those who want to get in an early eager.
WATERWORLD: Four of six players in the last two groups dumped tee shots in the water at perilous 12th hole in the heart of Amen Corner. Koepka, Molinari, Finau and Ian Poulter all wound up with double bogeys.
QUOTABLE: “Just unreal, to be honest with you. The whole tournament has meant so much to me over the years. Coming here in ’95 for the first time, and being able to play as an amateur, winning in ’97, and then come full circle, 22 years later, to be able to do it again, and just the way it all transpired.” — Woods.
