APP Drops Suit Seeking To Sack Zamfara Governor
The Action Peoples Party (APP) has withdrawn the petition it filed against the declaration of Bello Mattawale as the Governor of Zamfara State.
The party had filed a suit to challenge governor Mattawale’s victory at the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
But APP’s National Chairman, Ikenga Ugochinyere, in a statement sent to Channels Television on Friday said they have decided to accept the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The National Executive Committee of the party resolved to accept in good faith the verdict of the INEC in declaring Governor Mattawale as the winner of the election following Supreme Court decision on the APC primaries and the Governorship election.
“The party describes the emergence of Governor Mattawale as divine and urges the people of Zamfara to support him to deliver the dividends of democracy,” the statement read.
The party also urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to quit all their distractive actions against the governor and support him to rebuild the state.
It said, “The APC should not continue in their ill-advised shenanigans of applying to the Supreme Court to review the judgment sacking the APC from office.
“No party should stand in the way of what God wants to do in Zamfara and the APC will have all its fingers burnt if it continues along this path.”
The APP said Governor Mattawale has shown the capacity to rebuild the state and secure the lives and properties of the people.
It added that the governor needs the support of the people to succeed for the good of the state.
