Season Opener Coverage of the 2021 Rangers Regular Season to Feature the All-New Bally Sports Southwest Network Branding
“Bally Sports Big Opening Day” Will Air April 1 at 10AM Prior to Rangers at Royals Coverage; Live Show to Offer MLB Previews and Sports Updates Across the 19 Bally Sports Regional Networks
Irving, TX – Bally Sports Southwest (rebranding from FOX Sports Southwest), home of the Texas Rangers, today announced its 2021 Rangers regular season schedule with approximately 160 games. All games not airing exclusively on a national platform will air on Bally Sports Southwest starting with season opener coverage, April 1 at 1:30 p.m. CT at the Kansas City Royals.
The regional sports network will also televise the team’s Globe Life Field home opener vs. Toronto on Monday, April 5, starting at 1:00 p.m. CT with a special on-hour edition of “Rangers Live.”
Emmy-Award winning play-by-play announcer Dave Raymond will return for his fifth season in the booth in 2021. Former big-league pitcher CJ Nitkowski returns as the lead analyst. Former Ranger David Murphy and Rangers Hall of Famer Tom Grieve will serve as analysts on select game telecasts this season. Emily Jones returns as field reporter with Sarah Merrifield contributing to in-game reports.
The network will continue to deliver “Rangers Live” pregame and postgame coverage, providing fans with unmatched access to the team with interviews, extended analysis, unique features and more. Led by John Rhadigan, rotating at the host position with Dana Larson and Sarah Merrifield throughout the season, with former Rangers Mark McLemore, David Murphy, Mike Bacsik and Steve Buechele. Season opener coverage on April 1 will feature a special 90-minute “Rangers Live” pregame show ahead of first pitch.
Fans can also prepare for the 2021 season by tuning in to “Rangers Season Preview,” which premieres on March 29 at 6:00 p.m. prior to the exhibition game at Globe Life Field.
Bally Sports Southwest’s comprehensive coverage will also feature “Rangers Insider,” a bi-weekly all-access show hosted by Sarah Merrifield. Each 30-minute episode will include player and coach profiles, complete with exclusive behind-the-scenes stories and interviews designed to bring fans closer to the team.
Complementing Opening Day coverage on April 1 – and marking a new era of regional sports – “Bally Sports Big Opening Day” will leverage the Bally Sports regional networks to offer fans across the country for the first-time ever a live, whip-around style MLB Opening Day program. In coordination with Sinclair-owned sister sports platforms, including Tennis Channel and Stadium, the 3.5-hour special will offer fans MLB previews as well as NHL, NBA, and pro-tennis updates and highlights. Leading off at 10:00 a.m. CT, “Bally Sports Big Opening Day” will originate from Stadium’s studio in Chicago and air across all 19 Bally Sports RSNs, including Bally Sports Southwest, and feature expert analysts, exclusive interviews, social media updates and more.

All Rangers programming will stream live on the all-new Bally Sports app and on ballysports.com. Both the app and website will launch in coordination with the network rebrand on March 31, 2021.
