Bandits Kill 10 In Katsina
Unknown bandits have killed 10 persons and injured five others in Zango village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The spokesperson of the state Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed this in a statement added that the attack took place on July 21st, 2019 after a distress call was received that the village was under attack by about 200 bandits, all dressed in Army camouflage, on motorcycles who stormed the village shooting sporadically.
He said the bandits, however, rustled an unspecified number of domestic animals and set ablaze the house of the village head and two motor vehicles, adding that the whereabouts of three women from the village is yet unknown.

The statement added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Sanusi Buba has called for calm and assured the general public that the police and other security agencies are on top of the situation.
“On 21/07/19 at about 20:15hrs, a distress call was received that, Zango village was under attack by about 200 bandits, all dressed in Army camouflage, on motorcycles who stormed the village shooting sporadically.
“Joint patrol team, comprising Operations Puff Adder and Sharan Daji, were mobilized to the scene. But due to the distance, terrain and road condition before the team could arrive, the bandits had operated and escaped into Rugu forest. The Bandits killed ten (10) and injured five (5), persons.
“They also rustled an unspecified number of domestic animals. The bandits also set ablaze the house of the village head and two motor vehicles.
“Team also search the bush surrounding the village and one Abdullahi Bawa ‘m’ aged 22yrs, a Fulani native and a suspected bandit were arrested. The whereabouts of three women from the village are yet unknown.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina state command has called for calm and assures the general public that the police and indeed other security agencies are on top of the situation.”
