Billikens get back on track with much-needed 72-67 win over Richmond
ST. LOUIS — In the battle of the bubble teams it was Saint Louis that came out on top Friday night.
Hasahn French had 15 points and nine rebounds as the Billikens narrowly defeated Richmond 72-67.
Javonte Perkins had 15 points for Saint Louis (12-5, 5-4 Atlantic 10 Conference), which earned its fourth consecutive home victory, and Jordan Goodwin added 13 points.
Blake Francis had 24 points for the Spiders (13-6, 6-4). Nathan Cayo added 10 points and Grant Golden also had 10 points.
SLU led 33-24 after the first half, but the Spiders came out strong in the second half. For the duration of the final 10 minutes the teams traded leads and kept the game close.
Fred Thatch Jr. came up big late in the second half with a 3 and a layup to give the Billikens a little bit of breathing room. Saint Louis was then able to close out the game and come away with a big conference win.
