Blues recall Blais from Rampage under emergency conditions

ST. LOUIS — Forward Sammy Blais continues to be a frequent passenger on the St. Louis-San Antonio shuttle.

For the fourth time in the last two weeks, the Blues recalled Blais from their AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, on Saturday morning. It’s not yet known which Blues forward was compromised enough to necessitate the emergency recall — a move that is only permitted if a club is at risk of not having enough healthy bodies to fill out a standard 12-forward, six-defenseman and two-goalie gameday roster.

The 22-year-old Blais has appeared in 27 games for the Blues this season, tallying three points (two goals, one assist) and six penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward has also posted 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) and 55 penalty minutes in 26 games with the Rampage. A native of Montmagny, Quebec, Blais was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round, 176th overall, of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
