Blues’ Scandella out day-to-day with upper-body injury
ST. LOUIS — Defenseman Marco Scandella wasn’t in the lineup for the Blues‘ Wednesday night matchup with the San Jose Sharks, and he could be out for a while as he deals with an injury.
After participating in Wednesday’s morning skate, Scandella didn’t take part in pregame warmups prior to the finale of a two-game series with San Jose at Enterprise Center. He was replaced in the lineup by Niko Mikkola, and the team announced after puck drop that Scandella is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
The Blues have eight defensemen on their active roster — Jake Walman was a healthy scratch for Wednesday night’s game — so it’s unlikely that they’ll need to add another blueliner to account for Scandella’s injury. They do have an open slot on their taxi squad if they want to add extra defensive coverage while Robert Bortuzzo, who is currently on injured reserve, and Scandella recover.
