Blues sign goalie Colten Ellis to three-year, entry-level contract

The St. Louis Blues have another goaltender in their pipeline under contract — one who has been dominant so far this season.

Colten Ellis, who was drafted by the Blues in the third round (93rd overall) in 2019, has signed a three-year, entry-level contract that will take effect for the 2021-22 season.

Ellis, a Nova Scotia native, is playing for the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this season. The 6-foot-1, 187-pounder has a phenomenal 16-1-0 record in 17 games while ranking second in the league with a 1.89 goals-against average and third with a .922 save percentage. He has spent the past four seasons in the QMJHL, fashioning a 96-31-11 record in 146 games with a 2.35 GAA and .911 save percentage.
