The Milwaukee Brewers placed the rising 25-year-old on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left oblique strain. Burnes suffered the injury during Milwaukee’s 4-2 loss to St. Louis on Thursday night. He exited the game in the fourth inning after allowing three runs on six hits and two walks.
To take Burnes’ place on the active roster, Milwaukee recalled infielder Ryon Healy. Right-hander J.P. Feyereisen was also called up to serve as the 29th man for Friday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Burnes finishes the 2020 regular season with a 4-1 record, 2.11 ERA, 215 adjusted ERA+, 13.3 K/9 and a 1.022 WHIP.
In three games with the Brewers this season, Healy is 1-for-6 with two strikeouts. Feyereisen, the native of River Falls, Wis., has allowed six runs on four hits in 8 1/3 innings for Milwaukee.
