Pina suffered the injury in the second inning of Game 2 of Thursday’s doubleheader while attempting to dive back to first base on a pickoff attempt. On the season, Pina registered nine hits in 39 at-bats (.231 average) and smacked two homers. He started 12 games for Milwaukee, all behind the dish.

The Brewers recalled Nottingham on July 29, but the 25-year-old never appeared in a game before being sent back down. Nottingham has logged a .231/.355/.385 slash line with one homer and four RBI in 18 career contests.

In additional news, utility man Brock Holt has been officially released by Milwaukee. Holt, who collected just three hits in 30 at-bats (.100 average) with Milwaukee, was designated for assignment on Aug. 22.

The Brewers also designated Justin Grimm for assignment on Friday. In four appearances with Milwaukee, the veteran right-hander allowed nine runs in 4 2/3 innings with six strikeouts and four walks.
