Bucks high-powered offense propelled by fast break

The Milwaukee Bucks have been on the run all season.

Milwaukee leads the NBA with 17.0 fast-break points per game, levels above the league average of 12.9. Memphis (16.4) ranks second and Toronto is third with 16.2 per contest.

In his first season with the Bucks, guard Bryn Forbes leads the team in that category, as he scores 19.9% of his points on the fast break. Back-to-back NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is second (18.9%), followed by Donte DiVincenzo (18.4%) and Thanasis Antetokounmpo (15.8%).

The Bucks also lead the league with 28.9 transition points per game.

Playing fast is often a one-sided affair with the Bucks, however. Milwaukee allows the second-fewest fast-break points per game (9.4), second only to Oklahoma City (8.8).

The Cleveland Cavaliers, who host Milwaukee on Friday night, rank 12th in the NBA with 12.9 points per contest.

Milwaukee has won each of the last five meetings with Cleveland, averaging 120 points in those games. Only one of those contests wasn’t decided by double figures — a nine-point win for Milwaukee on Nov. 29, 2019.

Since Jarrett Allen debuted for the Cavs on Jan. 20, Cleveland has been much better in the paint. The Cavaliers are averaging 57.3 points per game from the paint in that span, compared from 51.7 before he joined the team.

Friday night should be an intriguing matchup inside, as the Cavs allow the lowest field-goal percentage at the rim (58%) and Milwaukee ranks second at 58.7%.
