Cardinals place Wacha on IL, recall Robinson from Memphis
ST. LOUIS – Michael Wacha, a key member of the St. Louis rotation and the winning pitcher in the Cardinals’ 6-3 victory over Milwaukee last week, has been placed on the 10-day injured list.
The move is retroactive to April 19. The right-hander is dealing with patellar tendinitis in his left knee. Wacha is 1-0 with a 4.64 ERA in his first four starts. He leads the staff with 24 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings.
In a corresponding move, the Cardinals recalled infielder/outfielder Drew Robinson from Triple-A Memphis.
Robinson, 26, was on the Cardinals’ Opening Day roster but was sent down twice and now has been recalled from Memphis twice. He has no hits in six at-bats.
