Cardinals’ series with Pirates postponed as team conducts additional testing
ST. LOUIS — The Cardinals will remain sidelined to start this week as they deal with a COVID-19 outbreak that has affected numerous players and staff members.
Major League Baseball announced Sunday that the upcoming three-game series between the Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates, scheduled for Monday through Wednesday at Busch Stadium, has been postponed. In light of the most recent positive test results, MLB and the team believe it is prudent to conduct additional testing while players and staff are quarantined before the team returns to play.
This is the Cardinals’ fourth straight series to be postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak: they previously missed a three-game set with the Brewers, a four-game series with the Tigers and a three-game series with the Cubs.
