Cardinals trim roster to 36 with Opening Day one week away
The St. Louis Cardinals announced Thursday that they have optioned or re-assigned a total of eight players to Minor League camp. There are now 36 players on the Major League camp roster.
Optioned:
- Pitcher Johan Oviedo
Re-assigned:
- Pitchers Jesũs Cruz, Evan Kruczynski, Matthew Liberatore, Zack Thompson and Tommy Parsons
- Infielder Nolan Gorman
- Outfielder Matt Szczur
The Cardinals will open the regular season in Cincinnati on April 1.
